On April 10, 200 immigrant supporters gathered at the Mexican Cultural Institute in Washington, D.C. for Ayuda’s Signature Spring Event: Standing With Immigrants (SWI). With our community facing new attacks every day, we were heartened to see so many local changemakers, pro bono law firms, and nonprofit partners show up in solidarity.

RECOGNIZING OUR COMMUNITY

Each year, we take time at SWI to recognize those in our community who go above and beyond in pursuit of our mission. Event Host Eugene Daniels, of MSNBC, helped us honor Ayuda’s 2025 Awardees

Ayuda believes that each time we lend a helping hand to our immigrant neighbors, it creates a ripple effect. It strengthens our community. We are so grateful to the awardees above for helping Ayuda turn these ripples into waves.

CELEBRATING AYUDA’S TEAM

A highlight of the night was celebrating three of Ayuda’s incredible staff members: Irfana Anwer, Pro Bono Managing Attorney; Nuri Martinez-Molina, Supervising Case Manager; and Ryan Durazo, Supervising Immigration Attorney. In a powerful video, each shared the deeply personal experiences that called them to this work. Watch below:

THANKING OUR SUPPORTERS

The best part of SWI was getting to see so many supporters and friends from throughout Ayuda’s history. We were blown away by the generosity of our sponsors, including Steptoe, Verizon and other organizational supporters, as well as the kindness of our individual supporters.

Thank you all for choosing to stand with immigrants.
