January 8, 2026 (Washington, D.C.) — Ayuda is deeply saddened and outraged by the killing of a woman by ICE during an enforcement operation in Minneapolis on January 7. We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family and to all communities affected by this act of violence. We join calls for a thorough, independent, and transparent investigation into the circumstances of this tragedy, including the use of deadly force.

This devastating event reflects a broader and long-standing reality experienced by immigrant communities: ICE’s aggressive enforcement tactics inflict lasting harm, erode trust, and perpetuate fear and trauma. This does not create safety—it undermines it.

Ayuda remains steadfast in our commitment to advancing the rights, dignity, and safety of immigrants. We continue to call for accountability, transparency, and the protection of civil liberties. Through know-your-rights outreach, legal representation, and culturally and linguistically appropriate social services, we will continue to stand with immigrant communities.
