On May 14, over 250 immigrant supporters gathered at the American Institute for Architecture in Washington, D.C. for Ayuda’s Signature Spring Event: Standing With Immigrants (SWI).

As our communities continue facing fear and uncertainty, we were overjoyed to see so many legal partners, local leaders, community supporters, and beyond show up in solidarity. After a heartfelt welcome from Ayuda Executive Director Paula Fitzgerald and host Eugene Daniels (MS Now), our guests had the honor of hearing from Kate del Castillo, one of Ayuda’s former clients.

“Thanks to Ayuda, I was able to begin my asylum process and later obtain my residency, Kate shared. “That completely changed my life.” Watch the video below to hear Kate’s full story:

RECOGNIZING OUR COMMUNITY

Each year, we take time at SWI to honor those in our community who go above and beyond for our immigrant neighbors.

Ayuda believes that each time we lend a helping hand to our immigrant neighbors, it creates a ripple effect. It strengthens our community. We are so grateful to the awardees above for helping Ayuda turn these ripples into waves.

SHARING OUR GRATITUDE

The best part of SWI was getting to see so many supporters and friends from throughout Ayuda’s history. We were blown away by the generosity of our sponsors, and the many individuals who contributed a historic amount in the room.

At a moment when doing so can feel so risky, we’re so grateful to our community for choosing to stand with immigrants.
