Sandra is Ayuda’s Advocacy Manager. In this role, she collaborates with Ayuda staff to advocate for systemic change on issues related to immigration and crime victims’ rights, primarily at the local and state level and often in partnership with coalitions and other organizations. Sandra joined Ayuda in 2022 as a Grant Writer. As a Grant Writer, she worked across teams to develop government and foundation grant proposals and manage grant stewardship. Sandra received her Masters of Public Affairs from the University of Missouri and her Bachelors in Psychology from Virginia Tech.
Prior to joining Ayuda, she worked in the Development department at Chicago Public Media (NPR), in the Development and Outreach department at Mundo Verde Public Charter school in DC, and as an AmeriCorps VISTA. Sandra was born in Peru and immigrated to Northern Virginia with her family when she was seven years old.
