Marilyn Lovo joined Ayuda in 2014, first as Language Access Coordinator, and has held multiple roles within Ayuda’s Language Access Program (Coordinator, Manager, Senior Manager, and now Director). As Language Access Director, she leads a team of managers, training and technical assistance specialists, and coordinators responsible for administering publicly funded interpreter banks in the D.C. metropolitan area.
Marilyn’s efforts ensure that nonprofits in The District and surrounding jurisdictions can serve all clients, regardless of the languages they use to communicate. She also delivers trainings locally and nationally for professionals on language access and advocates to advance the field.
Marilyn is a DC native, daughter of immigrant parents, native Spanish speaker, and trained community interpreter. She has a bachelor’s degree in business communication from Stevenson University and a certificate in nonprofit executive management from Georgetown University.
