Kelly Hii is a Supervising Attorney with Ayuda’s Maryland Immigration Team. She supervises attorneys, legal assistants, and interns while also providing trauma-informed direct representation to clients in both affirmative and defensive humanitarian and family-based immigration cases.


Kelly received her Juris Doctorate from the Georgetown University Law Center and her bachelor’s degree in International Studies from Miami University. Kelly speaks Spanish and is licensed to practice law in Maryland and the District of Columbia. She is also admitted to the United States District Court for the District of Maryland. She began her legal career as an Equal Justice America Fellow at Ayuda in 2018.

Ayuda's Response to Busing of Migrants

Since April 2022, Ayuda has been working to help coordinate the humanitarian response as the governors of Texas and Arizona continue to send thousands of migrants on buses to Washington, D.C.

We are providing culturally and linguistically specific legal, social and language access services to newly arriving migrants. These services include case management and intake support, interpretation, as well as the provision of food, clothing, hygiene kits, prepaid cell phones, medical supplies, and paid shelter.

Our legal team is providing individualized legal orientations for migrants explaining the immigration system and helping them be aware of their rights and responsibilities.
