Diana P. Ortiz, LPC joined Ayuda as the Director of Social Services in August, 2020. She provides leadership and vision to the Social Services team, and directly supervises a group of case managers and mental health therapists across the DC, VA, and MD offices.

For the past 15 years, Diana has worked as a bilingual Licensed Professional Counseling, advocate, and leader in nonprofit, private, and military settings. Diana has worked in a variety of issues related to domestic and sexual violence, child abuse, and family relations.

In particular, Diana’s areas of expertise are working with vulnerable communities, in particular immigrant population and survivors of complex trauma. Diana’s passions are embarking in new projects, spearhead new initiatives, and bringing teams and groups together to create long term solutions and long lasting impact.

Diana obtained her Master of Science in Community Counseling and Human Development from George Mason University in 2008; since then, she has served as an adjunct professor in the graduate counseling program. Diana pursued doctorate studies at the same university in Counseling and Education Policy (all but dissertation – ABD), and had the opportunity to present at national and international conferences about multicultural counseling, social justice work, and being a Latina immigrant in the U.S.

Diana lives in Northern Virginia with her spouse and three children. When Diana is not chasing kids around or building legos, she enjoys taking long walks and reading biographies.
